LARGE FORMAT DIGITAL PRINTER RENTAL


If you’re looking for complete creative control, know how to print but want to print larger, curious about new papers, come to RayKo. Create high quality archival exhibition prints up to 60″ wide on an Epson 11880 or Canon ipf 9000 archival large format printer.   Think alternative process and output digital negatives for albumen, P.O.P., cyanotypes, and much more. SAVE up to 50% off our printing prices, by doing it yourself. Rental includes cardboard, paper core rolls, boxes, and archival glassine for packaging prints. Please note, we do not accept walk ins, and all reservations must be made 24-hours in advance.

IS THIS RENTAL FOR YOU?
Digital printing is a detail oriented process, and experience in the areas outlined below is key. You will be using all of these skills during the session, this rental is not for newbies. If you would like a more comprehensive tutorial in the process of digital printing, we have classes to choose from or schedule a One-on-One Tutoring session.

  • Knowledge of histograms, levels, curves, color balance or color theory, and layers in Photoshop
  • Experience using small format printers
  • Understanding of creating canvases, resizing images, and file setup
  • Basic understanding of digital color management

FILE PREP CHECKLIST
Consistent file preparation speeds up the printing process.  We highly recommend the specs below to prepare your files before coming in.

  • Adobe 1998 or ProPhoto RGB color space | 16-bit | Flattened | TIF or PSD files
  • Files should be at desired width & height, and include borders in images if needed
  • Scanned images = 240 – 300 dpi (ideal resolution)
  • Digital camera images = 200 – 300 dpi (ideal resolution)

MANDATORY ORIENTATION
The orientation guides you through the process of using RayKo’s printer set-up, and is an overview of our custom process.  The printer rental is for experienced printers who need access to a wide-format printer.  Bring images to print during the orientation.   • Open files in the proper color space in Photoshop
  • You will adjust colors and densities of each file on our color-managed monitor
  • Setup files to run proofs and final prints
  • Learn proper handling, cutting, and packaging of prints

EPSON 11880

  • 64″ wide maximum paper size
  • TFP print heads, with the highest micro-technology control for extremely fine ink droplets

CANON IPF 9000

  • Exceptional B&W printing with Matte Black and Photo Black cartridges
  • Print on the fly with Canon print driver, ipf 9000 has a 40GB hard drive to decrease the likelihood of “dropped” files

WORKSTATION TECHNICAL SPECS
Both printer workstations are G5 Mac towers with 4GB of RAM, 512MB graphics cards, and tons of Hard drive space to store images.  Each has a La Cie monitors that are regularly calibrated to ensure the highest in color accuracy. Photoshop CS3 & CS4 are available to do final corrections and adjustments on your files.  The Epson 11880 has a Colorburst RIP option, for images exceeding Photoshop’s built in maximum file size (30,000 x 30,000 pixels).
