RayKo’s custom built darkroom trailer has a variety of photographic possibilities. We do Tintype portraits at events, teach classes off-site in Wet-Plate or traditional based printing.

ABOUT THE DARKROOM TRAILER

RayKo’s Darkroom Trailer provides a way for experienced tintypists to work in a spacious darkroom out in the field. The trailer comes outfitted with processing tanks (silver bath & fixer), coating station, sinks, running water, red safelights, five air vents, running ventilation, plus a staff member to tow and set-up the trailer. Rental hours include travel, setup, and breakdown time. Collodion, developer, and plates must be purchased separately. Contact us for multiple day rental pricing. Two people can work in the trailer, and up to four people can share time in the field shooting.

TINTYPE TRAILER PORTRAIT SESSION INFO

Two staff members will come to your event, set-up a portrait studio, and plates are processed so images can be viewed immediately right away. It takes approximately 15 minutes to prepare, shoot, and develop two tintypes. Portraits are set-up for 1-2 people because of the specific lighting and compositional requirements. Clothing with text will be reversed, because the images are direct positives. We will arrive to set up at least one hour prior to the start time.

6-hour Portrait Package | $2,500

• Includes unlimited Quarter-Plates (3.25×4.25”)
• One photographer and one tintype technician
• 6-hours of shooting & processing
• 1-hour of setup & 1-hour of breakdown time

Additional Fees

• $75/site scout consult (required)
• $75/hr for traveling, including consult time
• $250/additional shooting hour
• If a package is booked, site scout consult will be deducted.

TINTYPE PICK-UP

The plates will be taken back to RayKo for a final wash, varnish, and to dry. Depending on the quantity of plates shot, it will take 48-hours or more for final varnishing.

DEPOSIT & PAYMENT POLICIES

A 50% deposit is required to reserve a Tintype Portrait or Darkroom trailer rental. Cancellations made 14 days or more prior to the scheduled event, the deposit is fully refunded. Cancellations made 7-13 days prior to the event, 50% of the deposit is refunded. Less than 7-day cancellation notice, deposit is forfeited. Final payment is due 3-days prior to event date.
