workshops & tutoring

Our workshop program is offered year-round, and divided into three terms. You will find standard topics available such as darkroom, digital, studio lighting, tintype, along with specialized topics that are constantly rotated, added, and mutated. We take the following measures to maximize the value and make your experiences here great: Most of our classes have ten students or less. Instructors are a mix of our knowledgable in-house staff, to outside local experts. We are proudly the antithesis of the “vanity workshop” model. Our courses are affordable, highly technical or thoughtfully artistic, and most classes come with access passes to the facility to enhance your education experience.

TUTORING & CONSULTING

We offer customized one-on-one and small group tutoring services for photographers & artists. It’s a great option for those who need project specific assistance, learn best on an individual basis, or want to learn something not offered in a current workshop. We also develop custom workshops and consult off-site for commercial clients & firms, schools, and non-profits.

STAFF EXPERIENCE

The combined knowledge of our staff is like a Wikipedia guide to photographic resources. Staff members specialize in darkroom, digital, studio, historical and alternative process techniques, and we are happy to share our expertise with you. Clients range from beginners to well-established artists, national photographic groups, adult and youth programs, to commercial companies.

REGISTRATION

Sign-up and pay online with a credit card, or stop in and pay with cash or check. $25/off if you register at least one week prior to class start date.

WITHDRAWALS & REFUND POLICY

Refunds are gladly given for withdrawals or class changes one week or more prior to the class start date, minus a $10 administration fee. No refunds or credit for withdrawals less than one week before the first session or for no-shows. Sorry, there are no exceptions to this policy. Full refunds are given if a class is canceled.

LAB PASSES

Use our B&W, color, or digital group workstations for the length of your class to enhance your experience. Passes for 5-week courses are valid starting the date of your first course to the date of your last course. Passes for 2-day weekend courses are valid 1-week after the class end date. Type of access is based on the course you are enrolled in.
